How I Learned About Navy Bean Soup ?

November 9, 2017

Navy Bean Soup is always a  part of the meals that I prepare on a daily basis for my family over the years. I was taught the importance of the navy bean soup in The Nation of Islam, Muslim Girls  In Training  and General Civilization Class  in Houston, Texas, 30 years ago at Muhammad Mosque No. 45. I am so blessed to have learned this because  Navy beans are an excellent source of cholesterol-lowering fiber, as are most other beans. In addition to lowering cholesterol, navy beans' high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising too rapidly after a meal, making these beans an especially good choice for individuals with diabetes, insulin resistance or hypoglycemia. Navy beans provide virtually a fat-free high quality protein. But this is far from all navy beans have to offer. Navy beans are a very good source of folate and manganese and a good source of protein and vitamin B1 as well as the minerals phosphorus, copper, magnesium and iron. The Navy Bean is a great way to naturally protect yourself from radiation when using computers, TVS, and cell phones as it is a natural source of iodine. Eating foods naturally high in iodine will supply the thyroid with adequate amounts of iodine, discouraging the absorption of radioactive iodine. Salmon Chili On a Cold Day

November 12, 2017

It was  a cold day  in Houston, Texas  and I decided to cook salmon chill for my husband and I.  I always like to eat warm soups and chili that are healthy to keep me warm on the inside.  I found this great  healthy easy recipe video on youtube that I  used to cook my chili. I cooked some brown rice and covered it with the salmon chili.  Umm,umm, umm, good.  For the recipe below, I did not use the beans because we do not eat kidney beans. We only eat navy beans. My husband really enjoyed the salmon chili. Please Click on the link below to prepare this dish for your family:

Black History Month 365-Virtual Book Fair- Children's Novel

November 30,2018

This week's Black History Month 365 featured book is, Who Were the Tuskegee Airmen? During World War II, black Americans were fighting for their country and for freedom in Europe, yet they had to endure a totally segregated military in the United States, where they weren't considered smart enough to become military pilots. After acquiring government funding for aviation training, civil rights activists were able to kick start the first African American military flight program in the US at Tuskegee University in Alabama. While this book details thrilling flight missions and the grueling training sessions the Tuskegee Airmen underwent, it also shines a light on the lives of these brave men who helped pave the way for the integration of the US armed forces.
