Medicinal and Health Benefits of a Lemon

Lemons offer to us many health benefits. In an article titled, Medicinal and Health Benefits of a Lemon, the authors state that lemons have the following components: flavonoids, acids, pectin and minerals (Jana & Pradhan ,2021).
Also, mentioned by the authors of the article is that lemons have antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, depurative, antiscorbutic properties (Jana & Pradhan ,2021).
Prevention from Kidney Stones
Lemons have many medicinal benefits. To prevent kidney stones, the article discusses how drinking half a cup of lemon juice per day, citrate levels in urine will increase and this may protect the kidney from calcium stones (Jana & Pradhan ,2021).
Aid in Weight Loss
According to (Jana & Pradhan, 2021), recent studies indicate that lemons also aid in weight loss. It is the pectin, which is a soluble fiber, within the lemon that is responsible for aiding in weight loss.
Anti-cancer
Lastly, the authors state, lemons have "anti-cancer properties. Studies have supported that citrus fruit like lemons have anticancer activity, compounds that protect cells from damage which is the formation of cancer cells" (Jana & Pradhan ,2021). Lemons are a good source of vitamin C which is beneficial for the skin. Natural foods like lemons and other fruits and vegetables contain the nutrients that we need to maintain our health, and prolong our lives. According to The Honorable Elijah Muhammad in his book, How to Eat to Live, he states the following: "Natural food will give to us natural health and beauty and prolong our lives, if the poison hand of the commercializer does not touch it". He also, mentions that "In the Creation of the earth, the Creator caused everything to grow in the earth that would be, or act as, the sustainer of our lives. The natural food value of the vegetables that we go to the market and buy should not be destroyed with a lot of additions. They contain the vitamins and proteins nature put in them for us, if the experimenters and poisoners of food do not interfere" (Muhammad, 1972).
